DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENTS OF THE MODULE

The module will examine the implementation of Urban Screens and Media Facades, as an emergent new type of urban form, based on international case studies as well as the Bartlett VR centre’s own research in the field.  The use of these screens brings new potential and challenges for city regulators, artists, architects, urban designers, producers, broadcasters and advertisers. The module addresses these new challenges and looks at the physical urban spaces and the potential spaces created by the new technologies. A series of 5 lectures will introduce the students to the main concepts and highlight in detail issues of implementation in relation to the context and the content. The series of lectures will provide a starting point for the students' 2500 word report required to complete the module.
