DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENTS OF THE MODULE

The course introduces to the most prominent research methods used in architectural research, especially those coming to the field from Xxth century and contemporary humanities, literary theory and social studies, as well as from other related fields (complexity sciences, mathematics). Concepts will be explained in relationship with plain and specialised languages, then they will be translated and acclimatised from their original fields to architecture and built environment in general.
Also, the structure, protocols and insights of academic writing will be introduced to the students.

Introduction to research methods will also be adjusted to personal research topics of the students registered, in order for them to identify the most appropriate tool kit they need in order to master their future research towards PhD thesis.
